3 Part module
Because of the uncertain situation with COVID 19 we have no new dates planned.
Three modules
Every year there is a three part module given by Patrick van den Boom. Each are a 7 days clown training, and are part of a total training consisting of three different modules:
Module 1: Me & my clown
Module 2: My clown & my clown partner
Module 3: My clown & audience
For who?
For people who have done more intensive training with Patrick or with other clown teachers. Or/and you are a professional performing artist. When joining this week there will be an intake interview with Patrick (by phone, or videocall).
Module 1 Me & my Clown
A training for people who want to make clowning a ‘serious’ part of their work/life. With the focus on the profession/ craft and the fine art of the clown. This course you can discover or and rediscover their clown.
It will be an intensive working week. Could be letting go of what you thought your clown is or was. A week where the confusion is part of the laboratory. You could see this week as a place where your clown can be born or re-born, this is a constantly ongoing process. In this week there will be asked for a full commitment and a wish to make some ‘serious’ decisions. There is and will be a crash with serious and not serious to get into new (or maybe dusty) areas of your clown. We might have fallen in love with parts of our clown, what might not fit anymore. We might produce our clown and moments without totally giving the podium to our clown. We might delay our clown from being free as a bird.
Why is this module called ‘me & my clown’? We have ourselves with us in the clown. We sometimes stay with habits that can be in the way for the clown to be free. Therefore, part of the training is mindfulness and body awareness training to be able to truly give the podium to the clown. So that your clown can sparkle and play with all what is part of you, without judgment.

Module 2 My clown & my clown partner
For who
– A training for people who are in for an intensive working week.
– For people who have done more intensive training with me or with other clown teachers.
– Or/and you are a professional performing artist.
– A training for people who want to make clowning a ‘serious’ part of their work/life.
– With the focus on the profession/ craft and the fine art of the clown.
– This course is for people who want to discover or re-discover the art of duo work. How shine in a duo?
– How to let your partner shine; “my partner is a Genius“.

Module 3 My clown & audience
In this third week, all 3 models come together; we need to have an independent clown -and a great partnership in place. With this your clown is ready to shine and celebrate the ‘stage’ as an enjoyable place to play and be with audience!
This week will be based on; how does your clown build this relationship with the public
– How to be save?
– How to relax?
– How to have your ‘own’ party and play totally open, so the audience is at all times included in your actions and appearance.
– What should stand in your ‘contact’ with the audience?
– Explore different type off audiences.
– Some will be for real and some in role play.
– How does it work; keeping attention from audience ?
– How to restore contact with audience?
– How does it work in relation with solo clowning, and with more clowns with you?
– How to start -and end with audience? Stop at the top.
– Play with authority audience who can be the director of your play; empowerment of the audience.
In different types of clowning (street clowning, health care clown, theater clown) you meet different kind of audience. In this week we will explore all kind of audience with a different state of being, for example:
– Open or closed
– Enthusiastic or skeptical
– Happy, sad, angry etc.
There for we will practice how it works to make artistic choices as the actress / actor behind the nose: you always need to ‘read and scan’ the audience before your actions. How to keep the inner flame fun going no matter what?
This and much more will pass by in this week filled with frames and games to hopefully inspire and strengthen your clown as an interactive ‘performance’ clown.
